She has the hair. She has the outfits. She has the colour. She has the whole vibe. And yes, she’s just as cute IRL.
Okay, girls. We need to talk about Kaylin Matodes.
You know that one content creator you “just quickly” check out and, three hours later, you’re deep in her feed, saving outfits, screenshotting hair inspo and suddenly convinced your life needs significantly more colour?
Yeah. That girl.

Kaylin has the feed. Pretty outfits? Obviously. Gorgeous hair? We’ll take it. GRWMs? Immediately adding to the saved folder. Colour combos that make you want to rethink your entire wardrobe? Say less.
But when we met her IRL, we quickly realised the girl behind the content is even more fun than the algorithm lets on.
For starters, she’s a homebody. A proper homebody. She’s also a self-confessed neat freak, a little sentimental, obsessed with colour and fully believes you should get dressed up even when you have nowhere to be. Throw in a matcha because coffee is apparently not invited and you’ve basically found her in her natural habitat.

And honestly? We get it.
Because while her feed is giving effortlessly put-together, Kaylin is very much figuring it out as she goes, too. Her style. Her confidence. Her career. Her next move. She’s finding out what feels like her and taking us along for the ride.
Which might just be why we like her so much.
There’s no trying too hard. No “perfect internet girl” performance. Just a woman who loves pretty things, knows what she likes and is slowly building something that feels completely her own.
So obviously, we had to get the tea.

We got into fashion, beauty, femininity, confidence, the reality behind those suspiciously perfect videos, her current obsessions, the trends she would happily send to the group-chat graveyard, the beauty buy the internet actually got right, her career dreams and, because we are us, the secret behind those gorgeous locks.
Basically, girls?
You’re about to have a new favourite.

Okay, but who is Kaylin when the camera goes OFF?
Honestly, I’m probably a lot quieter than people might expect. I’m very much a homebody, and I love the little everyday things like getting dressed up even when I have nowhere to go, taking photos, going for matcha (I don’t like coffee , I’m not a fan of warm beverages), shopping (instant serotonin), being around the people I love and making my space feel pretty. And by pretty I mean COLOUR & lots of it! I’m also quite a neat freak. I also think I’m quite sentimental and I notice little things, which probably explains why I love creating content around everyday moments so much.

Take us all the way back. Before the GRWMs, the campaigns and the pretty feed, where did this all begin?
It definitely wasn’t this perfectly planned career path. Creating content started quite organically for me. It started at the beginning of high school. I just posted what I loved and I’ve always loved fashion, beauty, taking photos and putting things together visually, so social media became a natural place for me to express that. The more I created, the more I realised there was actually a community of girls who connected with the same things I did, and that’s when it started becoming something I genuinely wanted to pursue.

Was there ever a moment you thought, “Wait… I might actually be onto something here”?
I think it was when I started actually ENJOYING being creative and it didn’t feel like a “job”. There wasn’t a distinct moment. I’ve always felt creative. It’s just sometimes my ideas would run dry and I wouldn’t enjoy making content. However in recent years I started to enjoy it again and it’s become my little nook of the internet.

You clearly have a thing for pretty things. What is it about fashion and beauty that gets you every time?
I think I’ve always been drawn to the way beauty and fashion can completely change how you feel. There’s something so fun about getting ready, finding an outfit you love, doing your hair and suddenly feeling like the best version of yourself. For me, it’s not really about looking perfect , it’s about the creativity, the femininity and the feeling that comes with it.

Let’s talk femininity. What does being unapologetically feminine mean to you?
To me, femininity is something to embrace rather than minimise. I love being girly, romantic, dressing up, taking care of myself and enjoying beautiful things, and I don’t think any of that makes you less strong or less serious. I think there’s something really powerful about being able to be soft and feminine without feeling like you have to apologise for it.

Your feed is basically a masterclass in romanticising everyday life. What’s the IRL version actually like?
The real life version definitely has a lot more chaos! I think my content naturally captures the pretty moments because those are the moments I love noticing, but real life is obviously much more ordinary. There are lazy days, messy rooms, bad hair days, meltdowns because my outfit doesn’t “feel right “ (LOL) and moments where I’m absolutely not feeling put together. I think the dreamy content is less about pretending life is perfect and more about finding beauty in the little moments.

What would people NEVER guess about you?
I think people probably wouldn’t guess how much of a homebody I actually am. My content can make me look like I’m constantly out doing things, but I genuinely love being at home. I’m also a lot more sentimental and emotional than I probably come across online.

Has putting yourself online changed the way you see yourself?
Definitely. I think putting yourself online forces you to become comfortable with being seen, and that can be quite confronting. There was a time when I would overthink how I looked or what people might think, (sometimes I still have those moments TBH) but creating consistently has taught me to trust myself more. I’ve become much more comfortable with my figuring out my own style and with taking up space.

How do you give us the pretty, aspirational content without losing the girl behind it?
I think the key is remembering that I’m not creating a character. I’m sharing things that I genuinely love. Of course, social media is a curated version of life, but I still want the personality behind the content to come through. I never want someone to look at my page and feel like they have to become someone else! I’d rather inspire them to romanticise their own life a little bit more.

Okay, we need the hair intel. What’s the actual secret behind those gorgeous locks?
I could name 10 products RN. However I started seeing a REAL CHANGE in my hair when I started to plait it if I’m not going out and leaving the house. So 100% if I am home , if I’m cooking , cleaning or sleeping – my hair is in a plait. I have quite thick hair. And it gets tangled quickly which can cause so much hair loss. So this is a non negotiable for me and it’s helped with my hair loss ALOT!

Give us a secret. Something you’ve NEVER said out loud before.
I’ve turned down collaborations for brands who would pay me a RIDICULOUS amount of money because the brand didn’t feel like me. I’m very big on authenticity. If I don’t like it, or if I won’t purchase it with my own money, I won’t post it. Money can’t buy me. I’m good.

What’s your quickest route back to feeling like you?
Probably doing my hair and putting on an outfit that makes me feel really feminine. Wearing something colourful / floral.
There’s something about long, healthy hair, a good outfit and a little bit of jewellery that instantly changes my energy. Sometimes you don’t need a whole life reset , you just need to get dressed.

What’s one beauty purchase where you finally had to admit: okay, the internet was right?
Definitely Swiitch Beauty Boarderline lip liners!!! I kept seeing everyone talk about it and eventually gave in, and unfortunately the internet won. It’s now one of those things I wonder how I lived without.

If your personal style were on a dating app, what three words would be in the bio?
Romantic, feminine and colourful…
Romantic, feminine and colourful with some playful touches. I like looking put-together, but I never want my style to feel too serious.

Where are you stealing your inspiration from right now?
Honestly, everywhere. Pinterest is probably my biggest weakness. I’m constantly saving outfits, beauty looks, interiors, little details and colour combinations. Colour combos are my favorite thing right now! I’m not a pro at it (yet LOL), but I love the challenge! I love taking little pieces of inspiration and making them feel like me.

What trend has your heart and which one needs to be escorted immediately to the graveyard?
Obsessed: ballet flats for every season, colour combos, knitted ponchos!!!
Graveyard: anything polyester. If I wanted to wear a plastic bag I would’ve.

Let’s manifest for a second. What’s sitting at the very top of your career vision board?
I’d really love to grow into the fashion and beauty space in a bigger way. I want to work with more fashion and beauty brands that genuinely align with my aesthetic, build long-term relationships rather than just one-off collaborations, and be involved in bigger campaigns, editorials and fashion events. Ultimately, I’d love to become someone who can contribute creatively to a campaign rather than just creating a piece of content for it.

What would you tell the girl terrified of putting herself out there?
Do it before you feel ready. I think we spend so much time imagining everyone judging us, when most people are actually far more focused on themselves. You’re allowed to be a beginner. You’re allowed to change your mind, find your style and figure yourself out publicly. If you wait until you’re completely confident, you might wait forever.

When the girlies land on your page, what do you want them to feel?
I want them to feel inspired, but also like they can relate to me. I want my page to feel like a little escape , somewhere they can come for fashion, beauty and pretty things, but leave feeling excited to romanticise their own life. I never want someone to feel like they need to look like me or be like me. I want them to feel inspired to find what makes them feel like themselves.

And finally… what’s next for Kaylin?
Everything feels like it’s falling into place for me. I’m a wife to the best husband ever, I’m figuring out me , my style, what I like and don’t in real time with my followers. AND I’ve moved to a new city! I feel like I’m only really at the beginning of figuring out what all of this can become. I want to keep growing as a creator, but I also want to expand further into fashion, beauty and the creative side of the industry. There’s still so much I want to do, and I think that’s what makes this stage so exciting.
